Union cabinet sanctions €133.2 crore for double the Tirupati-Katpadi railway line

Among the major initiatives to strengthen regional infrastructure, the Joint Cabinet approved the long-term double-track of the Tirupati-Katpadi railway line by raising Rs 1332 crore.
Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao spoke to the media here on Wednesday that the ambitious railway project will involve the construction of a 104km dual-line line that will intensify Chittoor’s rail connection and transportation network in the region.
“The project has been an out of reach for the people of the region for thirty years. I am glad my efforts have led to the key recommendations that are today.” The MP said the railway project will end the plight of the people of Chittoor and the surrounding areas as express trains that had earlier bypassed the Chittoor train station will be regularly stopped.
“Railway connectivity will greatly enable pilgrims visiting Tirumala, Srikaratasti and Kanipakam in the Chittal and Tirupati regions, as well as the Golden Temple near Velor.” Mr. Prasada Rao further reiterated that he would continue to work in the direction of timely implementation of the project.
