Beauty Meets Buddhism, Miss World 2025 contestants find comfort in Buddha

As the sun of Buddha (Buddhavanam) in Nagarjunasagar on Monday fell on the sun of Buddha (Buddhavanam) in Nagarjunasagar on Monday, the fusion of beauty, culture and spirituality brought the essence of Buddha (Buddha Purnima) to life, contestants from 22 countries of the World 2025 visited ancient sites related to Buddhism. This visit is in the tranquil context of the Mahapapa, providing the delegates with a deep cultural and spiritual immersion in Buddhist heritage.

Participants from the Asia-Pacific region are among the contestants currently participating in international beauty events in Telangana. Representative countries including India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Japan, Australia, Lebanon and other countries engaged in interreligious prayers and rituals inspired by their respective Buddhist traditions.

After they arrived at the Buddhist theme park, they welcomed the deputies to guide the visit to the location. Dr. Shiva Nagi Reddy, an official at the Ministry of Archaeology and Tourism, shared his insights into the park’s architectural miracle. He said: “Buddhism proves the ancient Buddhist heritage of India and its role in spreading information on peace and sympathy around the world. It is an honor to share this long history with the world through the Miss World pageant.”

Participants explored various theme parts of the park, Buddha Valta Vanam, which portrayed the life of the Buddha. Jataka Park, with stories of his previous birth; Dhyana Vanam, an area dedicated to meditation; and Stutava is not located in the location of Harvard Tower in Dama. At the Buddhist Heritage Museum, they viewed ancient artifacts and sculpture panels, with opinions on the life of the Buddha and the evolution of Buddhist thought.

The visit also articulates Nagarjunakonda, once the vibrant center of Mahayana Buddhism and the capital of the Ikshvaku dynasty. Many of its ancient monasteries and pagodas have been moved to the Buddha’s ruins to protect them from the submersion of the Nagarjuna Sagar Reservoir.

The highlight of the evening was the meditation session inside the Great Stupa, which ended with Bailli Kuppa Maha Maha Bodhi Puja led by 25 monks, which created a moment of deep silence and introspection. The experience ended with a dramatic performance by 18 artists, re-formulating the plot of the Buddha’s life, which clearly moved the audience.
