According to the EV Policy 2.0 draft, starting from August 15 this year, CNG Autorickshaw registration will not be allowed.
Officials said on Monday that the Derry government may soon announce the draft Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0 recommended phase-out through CNG-powered Autorickshaws.
According to the EV Policy 2.0 draft, starting from August 15 this year, CNG Autorickshaw registration will not be allowed. From August 15 this year, the CNG Auto License will not be renewed and all such licenses will be replaced or reissued only by the E-AUATO license.
The draft policy also recommends the phase-out of fossil fuel-powered vehicles carrying solid waste, which are deployed in large quantities by citizen agencies and city buses.
During the policy period, the 10-year-old CNG automatic-Mokershaw will be mandatory to operate on the battery.
In a strong recommendation, the draft policy also articulates two Wheeler wheels that are not allowed to run on gasoline, diesel and CNG starting August 15, 2026.
Similarly, it recommends that diesel, gasoline, CNG tricycle registration will not be allowed from August 15, 2025.
The draft EV Policy 2.0 also stipulates that all leased garbage collection vehicles owned by the Delhi Municipal Corporation, the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi JAL Board will transition to electric vehicles in a phased manner and achieve a 100% electric fleet by December 31, 2027.
It also recommends converting public transport buses and DIMTs operated by the Democratic Republic of the Congo to electronic buses. DTC and DIMT will only purchase electric buses for internal city operations at the beginning of the policy for BS VIs within the city.
In addition, private car owners can only purchase electric cars if they already have two cars. The recommendation will be effective after notifying EV Policy 2.0.
Officials say the draft policy could change during cabinet approval, especially in recommendations related to the two Wheelers.
Officials said the Delhi government has expanded its current electric vehicle (EV) policy to 15 days after its expiration on March 31. This extension is expected to be final, as new policies are almost completed.
The policy will be notified after approval by the Delhi Cabinet. They added that it aims to improve air pollution in Delhi with aggressive large quantities of fossil fuels.
