Watch: NDMA releases video explaining measures taken in emergency situations before simulation exercises

NDMA released a video on Tuesday explaining the measures needed to be taken in an emergency situation between India and Pakistan, a deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed 26 lives. The video suggests measures that need to be taken at school and at home in adversity. It advises students and teachers to ring alarm bells, turn off the lights, cover the windows with dark curtains, and then duck under the bench. It also recommends older students to help younger students. Additionally, it requires teachers to lock the door, which is recommended when squatting and moving along the wall if it needs to move to a safer location.
At the same time, it also requires parents to talk to their children about what they have learned in school. It also requires people to cover their home windows with dark curtains or cloth to block any lights in the house. The consultation also requires residents to be prepared for the basic medical kit of medication and torch in any situation.

On Monday, the Indian government announced nationwide Civil Defense Simulation Exercise On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the Pahargam terrorist attacks caused 26 Indian tourists to attack after tensions in Pakistan increased. The Ministry of the Interior has directed 244 areas to conduct exercises, including power outage simulations, air strike sirens, evacuation drills and public training courses to prepare for war-like emergencies.

People may experience temporary power outages, pause of mobile signals or traffic transfers during exercises. Authorities can also conduct evacuation exercises or hold public announcements. In some areas, police and paramilitary forces may simulate an emergency like a war.
