By contrast, Congress rewarded Paddy farmers with a bonus of Rs 1,199 crore to 4.41 million farmers during the latest procurement period to provide free rice to millions of dollars. He said the plan will stay here and no government dares to stop it in the future.

Earlier, as people did not consume, they entered the black market through coarse rice (strong and fat varieties) offered by ration stores. Earlier people sold ration rice for Rs 10 per kilogram, and Miller recycled it to Rs 50. CM pointed out that Telangana produces about 1.2 million tons of high-quality rice, while Nargonda area contributes 800,000 tons.

Civil Supply Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that due to its poor quality, 80% to 90% of ration rice has been transferred, and the exquisite rice plan will be a “game changer in India’s food security environment”.

He said detailing the broader reforms of PDS under the Congressional government, he said in Telangana’s portfolio that the state has Rs 89.73 lakh ration cards and only 49,479 new cards were released during the 10-year BRS rule. Now, with the release of new cards, this number will increase to 10 million cards, covering 31,000 million beneficiaries.

The newly issued ration cards will be physical, QR code-enabled cards, although they will not include electronic chips. There will be two types of color-coded cards: – Tri-color cards for the Poverty Line (BPL) households and green cards for the above Poverty Line (APL) households.
