Jomon was arrested for rape 8 years ago and felt resurrected after the complainant admitted false charges

CD JOMON is a native of Ayamkudi near Kaduruthy, and after evening prayers, he had dinner with his wife and the children of two babies.
Without any explanation, they forced him away. On the way to the station, Jomon begged the officer to know why he was arrested. But it was only after he arrived at the station that he learned about the shocking allegation: rape.
Jomon, who owns a nursing training college in Kuruppanthara, was arrested in December 2017. “It was about 7.30 pm. They wore me in front of my wife and our two little kids. I was paraded in the street to commit crimes because I didn’t know, I didn’t know,” he recalled.
Although he was released later that night, Jomon was re-arrested a few days later and remanded to judicial custody. He was released on bail after one month in prison. But by then, the damage has been caused. Police repeatedly raided his institute and eventually sealed it as part of the investigation.
Six months later, when police submitted a charge form, the full weight of the charge became apparent. Jomon was accused of raping a student during a train trip to Maharashtra in June 2016 and would be hurt if she disclosed the incident.
The legal process has been delayed for many years, and due to the pandemic on the 19th, it was delayed. But in January this year, there was a turning point. The complainant revealed to the classmates that she made the charges as required by her boyfriend. Encouraged by her friends, she appeared in court on January 31, admitting that the case was wrong. A few days later, the court was not guilty.
“I lost everything. My institution, my name, my heart rested.” “At some point, I even thought of ending my life. But I realized that if I did, everyone would believe that I was guilty. The idea just let me go.”
The complainant later approached Jomon’s parish in Maduraveli and said she was eager to admit it publicly. During a church retreat three weeks ago, she stood in front of the congregation and apologized to Jomon for false charges.
“She was manipulated by her boyfriend,” Jomon explained. “He tricked her into signing a blank piece of paper and later he wrote a false complaint. He even tried to blackmail my money before going to the police. When I refused, he continued the charges.”
Despite knowing the person behind the plot, Qiao Meng chose the path of forgiveness. “I know everyone is involved, but I choose to forgive. This Easter marks my resurrection from years of silent suffering.”
