BJP Drive on WAQF Act also drives away opposition accusations from Christians on government radar

New Delhi: Focusing on ongoing protests against the WAQF bill in different parts of the country and protests from opposition shows that the Christian community is the radar of the Narendra Modi government, and the BJP will launch a counterattack, with its hierarchy and archives related to not only the Muslims of Pasmada, but also to Christianity in northeast India, which is “sent” to both Indian and southern Christians.

In this regard, BJP Chief JP NADDA hosted a one-day workshop “Waqf Sudhar Janjagaran Abhiyan” (who drives people about WAQF reform) at the party headquarters attachment on Thursday. NADDA, Minister of Ethnic Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Party Chief RMD Agarwal and others talked to the heads and coordinators of the party’s minority about the benefits of the bill and the need to pass the legislation.

Similar workshops will be held at state headquarters from April 15 to 17, followed by a regional workshop on April 19. The driving will officially begin on April 20 and end on May 5.
PM Modi is expected to express his views on the WAQF bill in a plan in Haryana on April 16. He did not speak on the bill when it was discussed in Parliament.

Different parts of the country have reportedly seen protests in the bill, with NDA partners reportedly worried about their impact on the voting base, especially in Bihar in the elections held from October to November.

Opposition leaders of Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Modi government will not stop on the WAQF board and that property related to Christian religious places will soon be targeted. When the driving force of the BJP is to be linked to the efforts of Muslims, especially women, especially women and backward governments, governments such as Pasmandas also determine the representation of Christ. National secretary Arvind Menon will coordinate the drive in the southern states while Anil Antony, also a national secretary, will be in-charge of the exercise in the northeast, along with Bihar and West Bengal.RMD Agarwal will be coordinating the outreach to Muslims in UP and the northern states while Jamal Siddique, head of the BJP Minority Morcha, will be in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP MP, MLA, Central and State Office owners, various Sheepstones and others will participate in the drive.

The party will also hold a “Isai Sadhbaav” (Christian Goodwill) meeting in places with a considerable Christian population, especially in the Northeast and South India to eliminate any concerns arising from Congress and other opposition movements.

During a workshop held on Thursday, Nadda and Rijiju stressed that party workers should spread information about how the WAQF bill would enhance Muslims, especially women, Pasmandas or backward Muslims. The bill aims to eliminate violations in the WAQF board of directors and property management, which constitutes the largest land bank after the property owned by the railway and defense department.

The 2006 Sachar Commission report estimates that the value of WAQF property is Rs 1.2 crore and its annual revenue should be Rs 1.2 crore. Rijiju stressed that the WAQF Act would ensure transparency, accountability and socioeconomic justice.

The BJP’s driving forces will include door-to-door meetings of Muslim families, interactions with Muslim youth, discussions on the benefits of the behavior with women from various regions of the Muslim community, and influences public opinion creators and professionals. Social media will be widely used, and party leaders are instructed to share memes, get Vox Pop and use digital media to spread the information of BJP.
