Berhampore: A female BJP worker murdered a group of armed villagers in Jangipur, Murshidabad, West Bengal. The victim, Menoka Mondal (40), is a member of Darfarpur Gram Panchayat.
On Sunday afternoon, seven villagers led by Kuran Mondal attacked Menoka at the home of Raghunathganj in Jagadananda Bati village. They carry iron rods and sharp cutting weapons.
The victim’s daughter Kakali claimed: “My mother tried to comfort them. But they threw the dirty stuff into our kitchen. The mother protested. Then they tried to attack my father. My mother tried to resist them, but they repeatedly hit my mother with hardcore.”
She added: “My mother was unconscious due to severe head injuries. We admit she went to Janjipur Hospital but her health worsened. She was referred to the Mershidabad Medical College and the hospital. My mother succumbed to the injury around midnight.”
Four people, including two family members of the victim, were also injured in the fight. They were hired at Janjipur Hospital. According to Kakali, the trouble began with the controversial 38 decimal land. Later, police arrested Kuran but ruled out any political competition behind the murder.
