BJP MLC and former minister AH Vishwanath criticized the Congressional government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for planning to celebrate its two-year celebration at the “Sadhana Samavesha” in Hosapete on May 20.

Vishwanath claimed at a press conference in Mysuru on Monday that “Sadhana Samavesha” only planned to cover up the failures, bad management and corruption of the government.

He also questioned the state government’s move to hold Sadhana Samavesha at the expense of the National Finance Ministry. “Why is the party not organized?” he asked.

Mr Vishwanat criticized the government for spending Rs 9.6 crore on the “free gift” by putting the country’s development priorities.

The BJP MLC described the government’s spending on freebies as “stupid”, saying Mr Siddaramaiah fantasized about being the finance minister to show the highest budget, but failed to use the funds to generate employment while ignoring irrigation projects.

Mr Vishwanat said that while state welfare spending is a step in the right direction, the Congress government has been distributing “free gifts” according to any standards in the state’s guarantee plan.

He even questioned Mr. Siddaramaiah’s contribution to the region of his native Mysuru. “What did you do for Mysuru, which is your hometown?” he asked, then lashing out at him for his helicopter trip to the city.

Even if it is possible to reach Mysuru by road within an hour and a half, the Chief Minister takes a helicopter. “How much has been spent on helicopters so far?” He was asking Mr Siddaramaiah to provide the same account on the proposed Sadhana Samavesha.

Mr. Viswanat, who accused the state government of being addicted to corruption, also asked the Chief Minister and his minister to disclose details of his assets in Sadhana Samavesha.

Vishwanath accused the Congress government of losing the faith of the people, saying that the government would lose its power just as the BJP government lost by lying. He claimed: “There is no difference between your government and the BJP government.”
