BJP requires security audit of Garuda Varadhi

Nellol: BJP leader Naveen Kumar Reddy’s poor maintenance of Tirupati’s iconic Garuda Varadhi overpass has caused concerns, claiming it has become a traffic hazard and eye-catching due to formal negligence and the failure of the contractor to fulfill its responsibilities.
Launched in 2019 for Rs 69.4 crore, the overpass is conceived as a modern miracle, similar to the Hyderabad Necklace, aimed at promoting pilgrimage and beautifying the Temple City. But, Reddy said, this structure seems to be overlooked and not eloquent now.
He claimed that since the overpass was completed, there has been no safety audit of the required ISO certification, which puts public safety at risk, especially during monsoons where poor displacement can lead to severe water on the underpass.
He noted that despite the contractor’s five-year maintenance contract, Reddy noted that the junction and divider from Leela Mahal to Padmavathi Puram are still in Diarray.
“This kind of overpass has become a burden, not a boon,” Reddy stressed. TTD, municipal companies and smart city officials immediately perform security audits and contractual obligations.
He also revealed his plans to write to CM Chandrababu Naidu, calling for urgent corrective measures to prevent accidents in the overpass and restore public trust.
