BJP SLAMS TTD Improper Preference in HPCL Land Transactions

The BJP on Wednesday accused Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) of his preference for land deals with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). TTD member trustee and BJP state spokesman G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy slammed the previous board to cause huge losses to the temple’s finance ministry.

Mr Reddy spoke to the media before the TTD board emergency meeting, and he challenged the HPCL's ruling with a monthly rent of Rs 220,000, which is significantly lower than the fixed Rs 3,30,000 by Indian Oil Company Limited (IOCL). He also pointed to the obvious differences during the lease period, with HPCL receiving a 15-year lease while IOCL receiving only a three-year regular renewal.

Mr Reddy urged the board to conduct a detailed investigation and file a legal action against those who lost revenue due to the “suspicious transaction.” However, he fears that transparency and accountability of the TTDS decision-making process remain at risk.
