BJP workers protesting Tasmac’s violations and against Annamarai

Protests were staged on Monday, condemning alleged irregularities in Tasmac and protesting against the arrest of K. Annamalai, the chairman of the state unit in Chennai, who were arrested on Monday in Tiruchi and other parts of the central region.

In Tiruchi, a group of about 65 BJP members led by the party’s regional president Ondimuthu was arrested after a rally near the railway junction for a demonstration. About 34 BJP members gathered at Vaiyampatti in the Tiruchi area and siege him to Tasmac stores and were arrested. Members of the protest party also arrested Hiengarpet, Musiri, Thottiyam and Uppiliapuram in the Tiruchi area.

In Pudukottai, a group of about 74 BJP members were arrested after a demonstration near the old bus station. In Aranthangi, about 90 party members were arrested after a demonstration near the Tasmac store in the town.

About 40 members of the party were arrested after trying to siege a TAMSAC shop near the old bus station in Mayiladuthurai town. Police sources said arrests were also arrested in the Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Karur areas after BJP members staged a protest.
