Book Review: 11 Caucasians who make Kolkata’s Charm

This carefully studied book explores the shared legacy of everyone who grew up in Kolkata. It records the lives of at least 11 forgotten journalists. Among them is mainly Harry Hobbs, one of Kolkata’s first urban historians.
Hobbs arrived in Kolkata in 1883. Professional piano tuners rose to a prominent member of Kolkata high school society, died in 1956, and he wrote several books, including others. That’s it! (1918), Indian Dust Devil (1937), John Barleycorn Bahadur – Old taverns in India (1943) and The Hotels of Spence and Its Times (1936). They paint vivid pictures of the ever-evolving city, the persistent water crisis that led to the cholera epidemic, the arrival of ice in 1833, the office para Tiffany culture and tenna’s nails, and countless other information.
The arrival of an ice boat on the American ship said Tuscany triggered a series of congratulations and dinner parties in the town. Historian William Dalrymple wrote about his great-great-grandfather James Pattle having a party and offered everyone a “tiptop champion” on the ice. Sadly, of course, Bangladeshi society is slow to catch up with this modern invention. Even in the late nineteenth century, it was rejected by its simple old age.Bof”.
Now, James Pattle plays the “reputation of a liar” in the abolition of Suttee, but in the abolition of Suttee, the son of Justice Puisne, the daughter of Antoine de L’Etang, and Marie Antoinette’s lover was the last French queen before the French Revolution. de l’Etang also met Julius Soubise, a British gentleman who turned black from slavery, who established the first cycling and fence school in Kolkata for men and women.
