Krishnaraja Mla ts Srivatsa condemned alleged incidents in Shivamogga and Bidar in Karnataka, where two students who appeared at CET were told to delete their “sacred threads”.
It is believed that the Karnataka government has ordered an inquiry and pointed out that it was done by security personnel from the examination center, and that the BJP hit the streets under the government’s responsibility.
Mr Srivatsa, who participated in a protest called by Mysuru Brahmin Yuva Vedike at the Agrahara Circle, said the incident had damaged the sentiment of the Brahmin community. Protesters marched through Vani Vilas Road and filed a complaint with Krishnaraja police.
The “sacred thread” shows that the boy began spiritual learning at a young age through “brahmopadesha” and “upanayana”. “It is a precious tradition and every community in the country has the right to follow their beliefs and cultural practices,” he said.
“But harassment took it to the two boys by forcing them to surrender and insult the entire community and its customs,” he said.
Nearly 300 members of the forum participated in the demonstrations and raised slogans condemning the incident.
Mr Srivatsa seeks to fire the persons in the incident. He threatens to step up agitation if the government fails to take action against the responsible officials.
DT Prakash of Akhila Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha, Mysuru department, Kr Satyanarayana of Hoysala Karnataka Sangha, MV Ramprasad, MV Ramprasad, former member of Mysuru City Corporation, was the one who participated in the protests.
