British boxer faces road rage attacks in Bali for five years in prison

Police say a British boxer faces five years in prison for suspected road attacks in Bali.
Liam Orme, 22, of Weston-Super-Mare, was working on wheels while riding on a rented motorcycle on May 2.
He allegedly hit the front tire of 35-year-old driver Alit, prompting angry locals to scream and curse him.
However, Orme did not apologize, but chased Alit and punched him in front of a supermarket in the Ubud district of Holiday Island.
Alit allegedly suffered a cut-out cheek and was bleeding from a powerful double blow from the boxer.
He went to Sangivani Hospital for treatment and then filed a complaint with the police.
Orme was arrested at his hotel the day after the investigation.

Gianyar Regency Police Chief AKBP Umar said: “We obtained evidence in the form of the suspect’s passport, red Honda CBR motorcycle and red and black full-face helmets.
“In England, he is indeed a boxer, and he is a tourist in Bali. We will not expel him, but we will conduct legal proceedings according to the directions of the Regional Police Chief.
“Anyone who commits violence will be dealt with in accordance with applicable laws.”
Officials said he will be charged with assault and jail for up to five years.
Orme was previously sentenced by the Crown Court of Bristol for his careless driving, assault and threatening behavior in September 2023.
He was awarded a 12-month community order, a two-month curfew, and a restriction order prohibiting contact with the other party.
The judge told him: “These are ugly crimes earlier this year. You behave like a thug in a store, you are threatening and abused, and you are very aggressive.
“This spills out the aggressive and unpleasant driving.”

Orme had previously said his career in boxing helped him leave prison.
“If I haven’t found boxing or better boxing, if boxing hasn’t found me, I’m definitely in jail now,” he said in 2020.
“My next step is based on my experience and fighting in larger national and international competitions.
“I also want to give back by grabbing the troubled souls and giving them the chance to box because I know the impact it has on kids like me. ”
