New Delhi: It seeks to mediate lasting peace in contrast to a fragile ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and Britain has told Buck to oppose terrorism, calling it a “terrible harm” to the country, its people and the region. “I have a clear message about India, Pakistan and international partners. A ceasefire must be maintained. There is no interest in further conflicts.”
“These are two neighbors with a long history, but they are two neighbors, and they are almost impossible to talk to one person in the past period, and we want to make sure we don’t see further escalation and there is a ceasefire,” Rami told Reuters. In India’s suspension of the Indian Water Treaty, he urged all parties to “fulfil their treaty obligations.”
The British Foreign Office said in a statement that Mr Rami’s visit to Islamabad was to welcome the ceasefire and “clearly stated that further conflicts are in the interest of anyone.”
“The British government welcomes the ongoing ceasefire between Pakistan and India, both are important partners of the UK, and the Foreign Secretary asserted the importance of continued stability in the region during his visit to Pakistan… The Foreign Minister praised the steps to cancel the hostile agreement between Pakistan and India,” the statement said.
