Amplitude 5.9 earthquake hit Afghanistan; tremors in northern India

Early Wednesday morning, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Kush in Afghanistan, trembling in northern India, including the Delhi NCR. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 4:43 a.m. (IST).
The NCS reported that the earthquake originated at a depth of 75 kilometers below the surface, with its epicenter located about 164 kilometers east of Baghland, a city in northern Afghanistan with about 108,000 people.
Although the earthquake is strong enough to cause significant damage near the epicenter, so far, no reports of personal casualties or structural damage have been reported.
The European-Medium-Seismology Centre (EMSC) provides slightly different assessments, recording amplitude of 5.6 and depth of 121 km. However, both institutions identified the same general position of the epicenter.

The earthquake is the latest in a series of tremors, which has been shocked in several parts of Asia in recent days. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge residents in affected areas to remain vigilant but calm.
