BRS failed to secure Telangana’s due share on the Krishna and Godavari rivers: Bhatti

Hyderabad: The state government has proposed a distribution of Rs 233,73 crore for the irrigation and command post development sector.
Deputy Chief Minister Malu Bhatti Vikramarka proposed a budget in the state assembly here, and after the ruthless struggle of the people, the previous government failed to take any decisive action to ensure the legitimacy of the distribution of water in the Krishna and the Goldwari rivers in the state.
Furthermore, the then government formally allowed Andhra Pradesh to use 511 TMC from the Krishna River waters of 811 TMC, depriving Telangana of its fair share and causing serious injustice to farmers in the state.
He said: “To ensure the comprehensive, data-backed arguments that Telangana has made before the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal.
“To ensure accurate monitoring and regulation of water use, we proposed the implementation of a telemetry system to track real-time water use in both states, and we also expressed our willingness to build the system if necessary to ensure that Teleangana’s water resources are protected and not welcome.”
To ensure timely completion of all pending irrigation projects across the state, we have developed a strategic plan that prioritizes categories A and B based on urgency and impact. The government’s main goal is to bring the largest agricultural land to the lowest expenditure. As part of this work, we launched the Udaya Samudram – Brahmana velamala lift irrigation project to provide water for arid areas in the Nalgonda and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri regions,” he said.
The project will lift 6.70 TMC of water from Udaya Samudram balance reservoir to Brahmana Velamala balance reservoir. Once completed, the project will irrigate 100,000 acres of land in 94 villages and provide safe drinking water to 107 villages affected by fluoride pollution, thereby significantly improving agricultural productivity and public health.
The state government will immediately carry out the construction of Kplaxmi Devi Palli Reservoir as part of the S. Jaipal Reddy Palamuru Rangareddy upgrade plan. The government has granted the administrative approval for the revitalization of the Bunadigani Canal under the Musi project, with the allocated budget of Rs 26.665 crore.
The funds will be used to the full restoration and modernization of the Bunadigani Canal, as well as the Pillayipally and Dharmared Dyply ant Canals in the Yadadri region, to optimize water distribution and improve agricultural productivity, thus ensuring the long-term interests of farmers in the region.
