BRS’s city MLAS requires immediate return to subway fares

Hyderabad: On Saturday, the city’s BRS MLA demanded an immediate withdrawal of subway fares, saying the rise in fares was a “brutal economic burden” for poor and middle-class commuters in the city.
BRS MLAS believes that a higher rate of fare would adversely affect hundreds of thousands of passengers per day passengers, including students, employees and daily wage workers, who rely on subway rail for affordable and reliable means of transportation. They said the fare amendment could result in a monthly burden of at least 500 to 600 per person per person.
In a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, 11-city BRS MLAS said: “Hedraba, one of India’s fastest growing cities, deserves a strong, subsidized public transport system, not designed for private profits.” They added that global cities such as Singapore, Berlin and Tokyo ensure that their public transport can be obtained through government subsidies.
The letter warns that traffic and pollution will worsen if subway commuters move to road transport due to unbearable fares. The letter was made by BRS legislator Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Sabitha Indra Reddy, T. PadmaRao Goud, Maganti Gopinath, KP Vivekanand, D. Sudheer Reddy, M. Krishna Rao, Muta Gopal, Muta Gopal, Kaleru Venkatesh, Kaleru Venkatesh, Bandaru Lakshma Rakdy and Marri Rajase.
