Officials of the Border Security Force South Bangladesh Border (BSF) have called on residents in border areas to report any information related to any information that the BSF dedicated hotline helpline is not helpful.

Information can be shared via the Seema Sathi hotline at 14419 or via WhatsApp and voice messages at 9903472227. “Credited information will be rewarded and will retain the identity of the whistleblower,” said a public relations official at BSF South Bengal Frontier.

On Friday, May 16, personnel from the 143rd Battalion of the South Bangladesh border foiled attempts to smuggle gold at the Indian-Bangladesh border in the 24 Parganas district in the north. Two smugglers were arrested and attempted to bring 10 golden biscuits weighing 1167 kg and worth about 11 crore rupees to India from Bangladesh.

After BSF personnel noticed suspicious activity, the seizure occurred around 10:30 am near the village of Uttarpara, Hakimpara. The defendants were detained on the spot and during the trial at the Hakimpur border post, they admitted to their intention to hand over the gold to another local resident in exchange for a payment of Rs 2,800.
