Buffett skips the stage at the 2026 conference, Omaha reports

(Bloomberg) – Omaha World Hrad reports that Warren Buffett won’t be on stage at Berkshire Hathaway’s 2026 annual conference, rather than letting his successor be the focus of attention when he retires.

Buffett, 94, announced at this year’s meeting two weeks ago that he would resign as CEO of the conglomerate he founded, but would still serve as chairman of the board.

His successor Greg Abel will become the next Berkshire CEO by the end of this year and will bring Buffett to the stage at his request.

Meanwhile, Buffett plans to sit with other board members, the report said.

Abel told the newspaper that the annual company meeting will be held in Omaha on May 2.

Abel said Buffett’s commitment to the company was “unwavering” to guarantee not to sell a portion of his Berkshire shares and attributed it all to a charitable trust after his death.

Warren Buffett’s daughter and Berkshire board member Susie Buffett told the newspaper that her father thought it was appropriate for Abel to come to power without him.

“I won’t be there,” she recalled, he said when he first told her about the decision. “I’m leaving it to Greg.”

Susie Buffett said it is unclear whether the annual meeting will still attract up to 30,000 investors without a father, but the company hopes people will attend next year to see what the event would look like without him.
