Neglected suburban radio station sends alarm in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Several suburban railway stations in Hyderabad are facing neglect, raising safety concerns for commuters and residents. When DC reporters visited Sitaphalmandi, Arts College, Vidyanagar, Malakpet, Dabeerpura, Yakutpura and Uppuguda Stations, they found police and security personnel obvious absences.
At the Vidyanagar station, dozens of Mendicant, Rag-pickers and Destitutes were observed sleeping on benches, spreading across platforms, often crossing tracks, moving between the ends of the station. The Dabeerpura station is also a resting place for homeless people, with people walking on the spot shooting tracks, while neighboring residents use it as an unofficial parking lot for cars and two-wheelers.
Commuters warn that unchecked homeless people and the presence of lack of surveillance poses a direct threat to passengers, especially among women and families traveling later. “There is no visible security, and even regular journeys feel unsafe,” said a regular traveler in Sitaphalmandi.
Local residents and daily commuters have called on the Southern Central Railway authorities to deploy sufficient police personnel to explicitly encroach on and conduct regular patrols. Railway officials did not respond to duplicate requests for comment. The caution of commuters can lead to adverse events.
