Canadian election results 2025: Mark Carney’s Liberal Party retains government power | World News

Canadian election results 2024: U.S. President Donald Trump’s push to Canada has driven the country’s wave of nationalism, with the Liberal Party led by Prime Minister Mark Carney winning the Canadian national election. Although Carney lacks a majority, he will retain the Prime Minister’s chairman and form a minority government. Out of 343 seats, one party is needed to win 172 seats to get the majority.
According to the latest forecast from CTV, the Liberal Party has won 145 seats and is leading out of 20 seats. The Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, won 134 seats and led in 13 other games. Québécois, led by Yves-François Blanchet, occupied 22 seats and took another place. Jagmeet Singh’s NDP took four seats and led the other three, while the Greens won one.
The opposition Conservative Party is second only to the liberals. In amid strong opposition, many Canadians turned their allegiance to the Liberal Party, which they believe is better in supporting Trump than the Conservative Party led by Pierre Poilievre, whose Conservative Party reflects the consciousness of the U.S. president in many ways.
Carney was a newcomer to electoral politics, a technocrat who made a living for them economically, and was the governor of the central banks of Britain and Canada. He won the Nepal constituency of Ontario with 62.8% of the vote.
After Justin Trudeau’s resignation, Mark Carney became prime minister, who opted out of the competition because of his unpopularity of his policies and decisions.
