On the second day after anti-Edhar protesters landed on Shillong Avenue, Meghalaya received two top awards from the Unique Identity Agency of India (UIDAI).
UIDAI, which issued a 12-digit unique identification number, believes Meghalaya is the best performance status for implementing mandatory biometric updates for children and Aadhaar admissions for adults.
Shai Kupar War of the Node Officer (Aadhaar) of the State General Administration won the government award in New Delhi on April 8.
“This recognition reflects the strong commitment and dedication of our Aadhaar team from field personnel to area officials and technicians,” said Joram Beda, commissioner and secretary of the state government.
“Resistance Logic”
On April 7, Meghalaya members of the wake-up Indian movement held a public rally in Shillong to protest the mandatory links of the Aadhaar number for people to obtain various government benefits. The state government said such anti-royal protests ignored logic.
