Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been called the “historic” coalition government’s decision to conduct caste enumeration along with the next census.

Jalli Madhusudhan, former state president of the party’s other backward class (OBC), called it a blessing to oppressed communities, saying it would receive proportional benefits. He said at a media conference in Tirupati on Monday (May 5, 2025) that the long-awaited decision will pave the way for the reasonable allocation of various social groups to various social groups.
“The first caste-based census was conducted during the British government in 1931, and no similar exercises were conducted after independence. OBC leaders said the government also provided training for 2.5 million investigators to conduct enumerations, but this has stalled due to the pandemic on the 19th.
