Vaishnaw said this will strengthen the social and economic structure of society, while the country continues to make progress. “Under the leadership of PM Modi, the Cabinet Political Affairs Committee decided today to include caste enumerations in the upcoming census. This demonstrates the government’s commitment to the values and interests of society and the country,” he said.
The minister said the Modi government had earlier reserved 10% of the economically weaker parts without putting any pressure on any part of society. Congress has been asking for a caste census, and party leaders have repeatedly made demands in their speeches.
