CBI bust railway working racket

Hyderabad: Syed Munvar Basha is the secretary of the Chief Operations Manager (PCOM) of the Southern Central Railway (SCR), who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and maintained two bank accounts, including the name of his son, one of which was collected by a bribe through digital payment.
The report was submitted by Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer. Rakesh of the Central Southern Railway Rail Protection Force (RPF) confirmed the violation in 2023 during the selection process of five vacancies notified by the PCOM office. This includes four posts for traffic inspectors and another for chief controllers. A total of 45 applications were received and 5 candidates were selected: Koyyada Sajith Goud, U. Dinesh, Naresh Kumarnara, Salivendra Sandeep and Gadekari Sekhar.
According to the report, statements of all five candidates were recorded on November 8 and 10, 2023. Each of them claimed that Syed Munvar Basha asked for money in exchange for choice. Four of them paid the bribe via UPI, while one was paid in cash. Bank statements obtained from Indian State Bank show that UPI payments were routed through two accounts: one in the name of Syed Munvar Bashaand, his son Shaik Sameer Hussain. Basha actively uses mobile phone numbers related to her son’s account. He admitted that he wanted to manage his son’s account.
Warning officials also reviewed the transactions made by Syed Munvar Basha as PCOM/SCR secretary. Between January 2022 and October 2023, the defendant officials and their son’s accounts were obtained from the SBI. It was noted that the combined deposits for both accounts were Rs 31,62,500 (Rs 5,82,000 in 2022 and Rs 25,80,000 in 2023), excluding the payment of bribes from six candidates.
CBI has initiated departmental disciplinary action against Basha and related employees.
