Rs 12.9 lakh was stole from the cash box of Choutuppal’s ATM in the early hours of Wednesday.
Later that night, the theft was revealed, when a third party representative responsible for maintaining the ATM filed a complaint with local police.
“ATM’s CCTV camera does not work. The exact time of the theft and the culprit involved is unclear,” police said.
Choutuppal police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The forensic team has checked the website and is collecting evidence, while videos from nearby agencies are being checked to track any movement around the ATM.
Police suspect the theft may have been conducted by individuals familiar with ATM maintenance schedules and security breaches.
