The 21st edition of CII Green Cementtech was conducted in Hyderabad on Thursday (May 15, 2025), and the speakers highlighted the importance of the cement industry to accelerate the adoption of measures to reduce its carbon footprint.
At the opening of the two-day conference and expo organized in partnership with the Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA), Ajay Kapur, chairman of Green Cement 2025 and managing director of Ambuja Cement, said sustainability means competition, which in turn led to growth.
“We have to continue integrating futuristic technologies that change the way we generate, move and think about cement. The road ahead is full of challenges, but full of opportunities,” he said.
“Depth decarbonization of the cement industry has great potential for deep decarbonization driven by renewable energy, artificial intelligence and digital innovation,” said Sagar Cements S. Sreekanth Reddy’s joint MD. The event’s “Training to Net Zero Carbon” theme is designed to explore innovative strategies and initiatives to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint, CII Green Cemente 2025 organizers said in a press release.
