On May, Chamundeshwari Electric Power Company (CESC) distributed safety equipment and launched a comprehensive cashless health insurance plan for its employees across five regions. The initiative aims to improve the safety and well-being of employees of various transformations to ensure uninterrupted power.

Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda, chairman of MLA and CESC, personally handed over the safety equipment to frontline workers who are engaged in tasks such as telephone pole repair, cable repair, transformer maintenance, etc. He stressed the importance of complying with safety protocols while on duty and stressed that these measures are being implemented for employee benefits.

To meet healthcare needs, CESC has proposed a new healthcare policy to provide cashless treatment for employees and their families. Health cards are allocated to employees and can be obtained for treatment in 1,413 sideline hospitals in Karnataka.

CESC has won the distinction between the state’s “A” grade distribution company thanks to the dedication and cooperation of its employees. The Chairman urged staff to remain responsive, especially for farmers who rely on electricity for irrigation. He directed the team to ensure that the transformer is replaced within 24 hours of the failure, warning that delays will attract disciplinary action.

KM Munigopalraju, managing director of CESC, reiterated the company’s commitment to employee benefits, noting that despite the financial impact, the healthcare initiative has been implemented without collecting any contributions from employees. He claimed that cashless facilities, including family members, were the first in the state’s electric utilities (ESCOM).

Safety equipment has been distributed to all employees at the same time, emphasizing CESC’s approach to risk prevention.

Mr Munigopalraju acknowledged the important role of Powermen and Section officials, describing it as a backbone of the organization and a major point of contact with consumers, and stressed the importance of maintaining breeders and Transformers to avoid service disruptions and accidents.

CESC currently employs 6,351 individuals. Including 19,468 family members, the total beneficiaries under the health care program are 25,819. Every family is eligible for Rs 2 lakh health coverage, dedicated to medical emergencies and advanced treatments. Since the launch of the scheme, 43 employees and 104 family members have received benefits of Rs 9.4 lakh.

Former CESC Managing Director G. Sheela, Chief Account Officer Renuka, Principal Sunil and other officials were present.
