Chandigarh youth aspires to serve as civil defense volunteer amid tensions in India-Pakistan

“We are here to support the army. They have done a lot for us and we want to do something for our army,” said Muskan, a native of Chandigarh. “I am ready to give my life for India. We have put forward this form; we are ready to do everything we expect…” After the announcement, the city saw long queues, hundreds of people waiting to register as volunteers to help civil assistance.

“We are here to serve the country. We have filled this form (volunteering).” Another local, Sanjana Arora, stressed that they all want to help the Indian army and respond to Pakistan’s “continuous provocation”.

“We are called here by the government and it’s incredible to see such a large number of young people vote. There are many young people coming together today to express support for India and our armed forces. The energy here is excellent, and even those who usually don’t get up early have a lot of them.
