Chennai River Restoration Trust restores 12 bodies of water across Tennessee: Minister

Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister KN Nehru said at the conference on Tuesday (22 April 2025) that as many as 12 water bodies throughout Tamil Nadu have been restored, revived and developed.

He said the Chennai River Restoration Trust (CRRT) will restore 12 major water bodies in Tamil Nadu and answer queries from DMK MLA M. Varalakshmi (Chengalpattu).

During the House issue period, Ms. Valarakshimi asked if the government would take measures to prevent sewage from entering Maraimalai Nagar in Ninnakkarai Lake in Gorge Pattu constituency.

Mr Nehru said that when listing the various steps to clean the water body in the Gorge Patu area, once completed, the inflow of sewage entering the water body will be stopped.

The minister also mentioned dumping biomedical waste and sewage onto Lake Kolavi in ​​the Gorge Patu district and said that in this regard, the regional government has requested the railway.
