The 37-year-old billionaire entrepreneur started his trade journey at the age of 16 and started his own company before completing college. Today, he is one of the richest people in his country and beyond. This is his story.
Personal life
Turlov’s full name is Timur Ruslanovich Turlov, born in 1987. He graduated from Moscow Aeronautics Technology University in 2009 with a degree in Economics and Management. He is married and has six children. Turlov lives in Alama City, Kazakhstan.
Business and work
Turlov started trading stocks at the age of 16, and he inherited $800 from his grandfather. After working at several companies in Moscow, Turlov founded Freedom Finance in 2008, combining $100,000 with his co-founder. His company was listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange in October 2019, and Turlov said it was his most proud achievement. He also acquired several companies including Kassa Nova Bank and Freedom Telecom. Currently, Freedom Holding Corp operates in Central Asia, Europe and the United States, serving more than 5 million customers in Kazakhstan and more than 250,000 customers in Europe.
He has also served as president of the Kazakh Chess Federation and is a co-founder of a youth football initiative in Kazakhstan.
