Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reviewed the rainforest measures in Bangalore from the BBMP War Room on Monday.

Amid the harsh criticism of the opposition, the Chief Minister said he had been instructing BBMP officials to clear the encroachment of SWD and prevent the accumulation of sludge and was working on.

“Without any prejudice, strict action will be initiated against the invaders. Of the 4,292 encroachments identified, 2,326 have been cleared,” he said.

Keep the wall

“Bangaluru has a total of 859.90 km of SWD. So far, we have built a fixed wall of 491 km of drainage pipes. The construction is underway. We have borrowed a loan from the World Bank and 173 km of SWDS from the World Bank. Work is underway.

The Chief Minister noted that 210 low-lying areas have been identified and classified as sensitive and highly sensitive areas, and the Chief Minister said: “The work has been done in 166 areas and work has been carried out in 44 other areas. After these 44 sensitive areas have been resolved, most of the problems will be solved. 24 sensitive areas are currently underway.”

The full-day city round on May 21

Mr Siddaramaiah had earlier planned to visit the affected area with Shivakumar, deputy representative of DK Shivakumar, who owns the Bangalore development portfolio, and other ministers said he would now have a full day of city rounds on Wednesday.

“I postponed my visit to the rain-affected areas on May 21 due to the heavy traffic at night. Also, it doesn’t make sense to visit after sunset because I will be unable to assess the situation.”

Sensitive traffic areas

Mr Shivakumar said the traffic police had identified 132 sensitive traffic areas. “By April, we’ve processed 81 of them. We have 41 attractions to work,” he said.

“This year, we have been working on SWD throughout the city. Rainfall has caused severe flooding and flooding near the junction of Silk Board and Hbabar. The railway authorities have been entrusted with the task of providing a path to the water. To make the flow disappear. There is a permanent team to remove fallen trees to make the public unhappy. We have encountered dissatisfaction here.
