Chinese officials meet Indian envoy in confrontation with Pakistan

In the India-Pakistan military conflict, the senior foreign ministry of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs was responsible for Asian affairs, met with Indian Ambassador Kumar Rawat, India’s Ambassador to China, and exchanged views on bilateral relations and common issues.
A brief press release from the ministry said that Mr. Liu is the Minister of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and he met with Mr. Ravat on Monday (May 12, 2025).

India conducted a precise strike on the “Sindoor” of Pakistan’s terrorist infrastructure earlier on May 7 in response to the terrorist attack on April 22 that killed 26 people. After India’s operations, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10.
After four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes, India and Pakistan reached an understanding on Saturday to end the conflict.
The short press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two sides expressed their views on China’s relations and issues of widespread concern.

“This is also what the international community wants to see,” Mr. Liu said, adding that China supports and welcomes this latest development.
China hopes that India and Pakistan can consolidate and continue the ceasefire momentum, avoid further conflicts, correctly handle differences through dialogue and negotiations, and resume tracking of political reconciliation.
He said China is ready to engage in exchanges with India and Pakistan and play a constructive role in achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire between the two countries and maintaining peace and stability in the region.

China welcomed the understanding between India and Pakistan on Monday, saying it is in the basic and long-term interests of the two countries and is conducive to regional peace and stability.
Indian Embassy in Beijing earlier warned state-owned tabloids Global Era Verify the message before posting it to social media.
