Beijing: Nine people died, one missing, and 70 injured. On four tourist boats, it was suddenly tilted on the Gai River due to sudden strong winds tilted on a river in Giankes, Jizhou Province, southwest China. After the accident Sunday afternoon, a total of 84 people fell into the water, and the search for the last missing persons continued. Local meteorological authorities reportedly issued a yellow alarm on Sunday stating that thunderstorms will occur in multiple places. Chinese President Xi Jinping urged to go all out on Sunday to find those who fell into the water and were injured after the ship tilted. Xinhua News Agency reported that Chinese provincial authorities have deployed nearly 500 emergency responders, including police, firefighters and medical staff, to coordinate rescue efforts.
Other passengers on board reported a sudden change in the weather, with rainfall and fog hovering over the water. In December, eight people died after a ship on board in Keichung Province.
Meanwhile, a helicopter crashed in Wugang, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on Friday, killing one person and four casualties due to bad weather, as confirmed by the local emergency bureau in China.
According to the bureau's statement, the helicopter crashed from an altitude of about 10 meters above the ground and returned to Wuwang airspace. The victim was a local person, killed and four people were injured on the ship.
Earlier this year, 11 people died and five people were missing, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred on the Yuanshui River in Jinlong Town, Yuanlin County, causing 19 people to fall, three of whom were rescued.
