Church starts vacation Bible school

Hyderabad: Churches in Hyderabad and Secunderabad have opened annual week to 10-day holiday Bible schools, attracting hundreds of children (increasing families) to faith-based summer programs, packed with music, skits, quizzes and art.

At the Methodist Church on Church Road, organizers introduce the 2025 Roman theme. Parents and children arrive at togas and tunics, depicting the characters from the Bible era and explaining the historical context of each character. “I became a student once,” said Deva Pramola, a city teacher who participated in the costumes. Participant Devdas Sagar added that his family “make history alive” through dress and storytelling appreciation.

Intergenerational learning is a sign of increasing activities, with the elderly participating in classroom activities with young people. The organizers say the fresh theme twist has inspired a greater enthusiasm for the Bible lessons.

Meanwhile, CSI Wesley Church ended VBS on Saturday after a 10-day run that began on April 24, registering more than 300 participants. Director M. Sheba Ratnaker attributes to morning music conferences to maintain high energy. “The moment the school was closed, we opened the door and responded more than we expected,” she said.

Most shows will end before the monsoon season, bringing the kids with what the organizers call “the summer of songs, stories and spiritual discovery.”
