Vasundhara Raje slams officials at Jal Jeevan Mission in Jhalawar, Center seeks reports from Rajasthan Govt

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje made headlines this week during a visit to her family’s stronghold, Jhalawar. Raj expressed strong dissatisfaction with the implementation of the Jal Jeevan mission, the flagship of the region’s prime minister, which put officials in charge of the lack of progress.

Raje entered the social media platform X and posted two sharp messages in the execution of the plan, accusing officials of negligence. She stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated Rs 4.2 crore for the task and asked officials about Jhalawar’s share of it. She further warned that if there was already a crisis in April, this could become terrible during the peak summer hours in June and July.

“Don’t the public feel thirsty? Only the officers feel thirsty. The public feels troubled by the drinking water crisis in the summer, and the officers are still satisfied. The water should reach the lips of the people, not only on paper. The officers are sleeping, people are crying. I will not let this happen,” Raj wrote.
Her remarks sparked a quick response from the center. On Wednesday, Union Jal Shakti Minister Cr Paatil acknowledged Raje’s concerns and announced that his ministry had sought an immediate factual report from the Rajasthan government.

The matter also caught the attention of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who convened a meeting with Public Health Engineering officials on Thursday. He directed them to step up efforts to ensure water supply ahead of the peak of summer and warned of strict handling of any negligence.
