CITU leaders demand publicity of labor regulations to protect workers' interests

Centre of Trade Unions in India (CITU) – Ch, President of Srikakulam Region. Ammannaidu and secretary P. Tejeswara Rao on Sunday asked the Union government to repeal all labor regulations and reintroduce old labor laws that are used to protect the interests of the country's labor force. The CITU held a meeting with several organizations in Srikakulam to seek support for the proposed all-India strike on May 20 to oppose the Union government's labour regulations and “anti-workers” policies.

Mr Ammannaidu said that only all provisions of the labour regulations violate the interests of employees and workers and therefore only managers can benefit. Mr Tejeswara Rao said there was no mechanism to question whether the manager was removed from office without any notice. He said workers became bond workers and would be forced to work more than 12 hours a day.

He demanded a fixed rupees of 26,000 per month as a minimum wage for all basic commodities, transportation costs, school and hospital costs. Chikkala Govinda Rao, honorary secretary of AITUC, S. Venkata Rao, leader of the YSRCP trade union, M. Srinivasa Rao, member of the National Committee of the Federation of Bank Employees, etc.
