Telangana DCA seizes Ayurvedic drug with misleading ads

Hyderabad: The Telangana Drug Control Authority (DCA) seized some Ayurvedic drugs to provide misleading advertisements showing that Picrosol Lotion claims to treat meat pies, while Aswagandha Choornam claims to treat tuberculosis and Muslim capsules and claims to treat chronic fever. Vimcet Plus- DS suspension, a homeopathic medicine, claims to treat chronic fever.
DCA Director VB Kamalasan Reddy said the claims were the 1954 Act that violated the Drug and Magic Remedies (Obsensible Advertising) Act. The bill prohibits the ads of certain drugs to treat certain diseases and diseases. No one shall participate in the publication of an advertisement regarding the disease or disease indicated in the Act.
Reddy said further investigations will be conducted and action against all criminals will be taken under the law. People who are misleading advertisements about drugs for treating certain diseases and diseases should be subject to drug and magic remedies (offensive advertising) under the Act of 1954.
He said the public can report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including drug drugs and psychotropic substances, in the residential, commercial or industrial sectors, and any other complaints about illegal drug activities, through the DCA’s free phone number 1800-599-599-6969, from 10.30 am to 5 pm to 5 pm, operating on all working days.
