Hyderabad:The church marks the rituals of Good Friday, passionate play and chants, even if the showers are forced indoors in the afternoon.
Worshippers, many wearing white clothes symbolize purity, from the morning “Road to the Cross” to the evening Eucharist ritual. Several fellow citizens reported that the unusual hue of red pink in the sky between 2.45 pm and 3 pm, and they said that every Good Friday recurred.
At the Sacred Heart Church in Lalaguda, the main evening service is moved inside due to rain. “Despite the weather, the liturgy is noble and influential,” said parish pastor Jones Mettu. The Lady of Our Lady in Khairatabad made a similar adjustment, where the morning passion play was as planned, but the evening mass began to arrive late.
St Francis of Assisi Church in Ramnagar celebrates the 60th Good Friday with the “Road to the Cross” and the twilight worship of the Cross. Parish pastor Praveen Dsouza said the passionate drama of the church, now in its 25th year, attracted about 2,000 viewers.
In Kompally, God’s New Life Conference staged a Good Friday CANTATA after weeks of rehearsal. Pastor Younus Samuel noted: “Performance helps convey the message of the cross.”
Members of the United Nations Scholarship held evening services at the Centenary Baptist Church in Secunderabad, ending the 45-day fast, with Rev Joy Cherian preaching Jesus’ “Seven Last Words.”
