CM Mamata Banerjee may visit Riot Hit Murshidabad on Monday

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may travel to the violently attacked Mehdabad area during a two-day visit on Monday (May 5, 2025), an official said.
He said Ms Banerjee plans to visit the district headquarters town of Berhampore on May 5 (May 5).

The official added that on Tuesday (April 29), the Bangladesh CM plans to travel to Samsherganj and meet with the victims of the riot there.
“During the two-day visit to Murhidabad district, she will meet with victims of violence. She will hand over the checks to the victims' families. She will also hand over the checks to those who have been damaged in the riots under the “Barri, Bangladesh” plan.”
After meeting with the victims, officials said Banerjee planned an executive meeting at Chhabghati KD Vidyalaya (HS) in Suti.
“From the Executive Council, she will announce a plan worth Rs 703 crore in the Murhidabad region,” he said.
During the protests of the WAQF (Amendment) Bill in parts of Muhidabad, violence broke out and three people were killed.
