Poonch: Jamu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah contacted Pakistani shelling people on Monday in the Pornchi area and stressed the need to establish bunkers in the area.

The Ponzi region has had the highest death toll since Wednesday, with more than 50 injured, and India carried out nine terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan shortly after India’s operations in Sindor and avenged the April 22 Pahalgam attack, killing 26 people.

Abdullah, along with his advisers Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Ajaz Jan, visited Poonch and investigated areas severely damaged by Pakistan’s shelling.

They met with the families who were killed in the shelling, especially those of Amarjeet Singh and Amrik Singh, and expressed their condolences to their relatives.

The locals introduced the scene to the Chief Minister. Leaders say the visit is intended to provide support and comfort to grieving families.

Abdullah also visited the Surankote area and interacted with locals who were transferred to a safer location in the border area. His minister, Javed Rana, introduced him to the measures the government is taking.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to build bunkers for border residents to ensure their safety. He also plans to visit Rajouri.

In Jamu and Kashmir, this was largely peaceful, with no fire on the border overnight, marking the first night of the last few days.

On Saturday afternoon, New Delhi and Islamabad reached an understanding on Saturday afternoon to immediately stop military operations during a four-day cross-border drone and missile strike.
