Of the 64,006 extremely poor families, 50,401 were removed from poverty: cm

A total of 50,401 families (78.74%) out of 64,006 extremely poor families, identified as part of the State government’s extreme poverty eradication program, have moved out of extreme poverty as per the figures on April 15, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
Most families who want to get rid of extreme poverty are those who need stable income and safe homes, Vijayan said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The government has been working to achieve the state’s extreme poverty-free status by November 1 this year. He said the Dhamma Declaration was the first announcement of an extremely poverty-free constituency in the state, which showed that the project turned Kerala into India’s first state without extreme poverty, and the project was going well.
The first phase focuses on basic needs such as food and health care. Through the joint efforts of state and local agencies, ensure that families who do not have access to these opportunities are ensured for uninterrupted food and health care. Basic documents were provided to 21,263 individuals. Of the 5,350 families struggling to earn income, 4,359 families are helping through projects, local autonomous agencies and other departments led by Kudumbashree State to help through projects and other departments led by Kudumbashree State.
So far, 3,143 homeless families have been provided for home construction. The construction of these homes, as well as 699 homes, are built for landless and homeless families. Funds for 4,049 families were provided for home renovation.
