No decision on closure of universities yet: Karnataka CM

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the Legislative Assembly that the Karnataka government will decide on the closure or continuation of seven universities established during the last BJP government based on the findings of the National Cabinet Subcommittee.
The chief minister said no decision has been made regarding the closure of the university. The decision will be made after the panel submits its report to the national cabinet. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will lead the group.
Earlier, former Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayana wanted to debate the government’s transfer to closure of universities and said closure of universities would lead to denying students the opportunity to conduct higher research.
