Collection of movies in which French film idol Gérard Depardieu was convicted for sexual assault

French actor Gérard Depardieu was found in a Paris court on Tuesday that sexually assaulted two women in a 2021 film and handed him an 18-month moratorium on prison terms.

In one of the highest #METOO cases before the French judge, the French cinema’s towering figure DePardieu repeatedly denied any misconduct. But Justice Thierry Donard said Depardieu’s explanation of the incident was convincing.

One of the two plaintiffs, Amelie K, a decorator, told the court that the actor groped her on her body when he trapped her between her legs and made clear sexual comments.

“He touched everything, including my breasts,” she told the court. “I was scared and he was laughing.” The chairman’s judge said two witnesses confirmed her account, and depardieu had been in conflict with his own account.

The #MeToo protests against sexual violence have been working to gain the same appeal in France as the United States, despite signs that society’s attitudes towards sexual assault may be changing.
