Collectors direct officials to ensure stagnant water is removed before monsoon attack

NTR regional collector G. Lakshmisha has directed officials to take steps to raise awareness about the spread of malaria and dengue diseases and how to prevent them.
At a meeting of the regional level coordination committee on Tuesday, Mr. Lakshmisha discussed with other committee members the plans to be part of the National Insect-borne Disease Control Plan on the occasion of World Malaria Day on April 25.
The collector said a frontline health worker should distribute a brochure on DOS and NOTS to prevent mosquitoes from spreading the disease in every household, adding that dengue is common in urban areas, while malaria is more prevalent in rural areas. Special driving forces should be carried out to determine where the water is stagnant and measures should be taken to clear the monsoon before it is monsoon.
In rural areas, prevention measures should be consciously employed through Mike’s announcement to prevent mosquitoes from spreading. Collectors directed the Ministry of Agriculture officials to educate farmers about stagnant water in the fields that could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The boring day of Friday will be observed on April 25, and officials from all departments should participate in the program, during which they will raise awareness among the public through unused tanks, planting pots and drums.
Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra, Regional Medical and Health Officer M. Suhasini, Other DMHO USHARANI, Regional Malaria Officer Mothibabu and others were present.
