Regional collector Sumit Kumar highlights the potential of oil-based palm farming in eastern Mandan, which can provide economic viability for farmers. He directed officials in the horticulture and agriculture sector to create publicity plans among farmers in the region through Rythu Sadhikara Kendrams (RSK).
The collector held a review meeting on Wednesday at the collector’s various departments. Mr. Sumit Kumar envisions plans to expand the area of oil palm planting in the region, although its main presence is currently limited to Kareti Nagaram, Nindra, Vijayapuram and Nagari Mandals.
He said that besides sugarcane cultivation, which is the main crop in the region, oil palm farming can also prove to be a profitable alternative to farmers because of its lower input costs and minimal losses to crops.
“We all know that the demand for edible oils in the market is high. Oil palm farming will be a certain income generated by Chittal farmers.
