Terrorists opened fire on a famous grassland near Pahargam on the afternoon of Tuesday (April 22, 2025), killing at least 26 people, mainly tourists, which appeared to be the deadliest attack since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

Officials said Delhi police have improved security throughout the city, especially focusing on tourist hotspots and border checkpoints, confirming that inspections and surveillance have been strengthened.
They said sensitive areas were also regulated by traffic changes.
The alert coincides with the ongoing visit of U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who has strengthened security in Delhi and other cities.
One official said Pahargam victims included two foreigners – one from the UAE and another from Nepal – and two locals.
Jamu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the attack was still confirmed as he would attack “much bigger than anything we have pointed to civilians in recent years”.
