Commodity train derails in Thana area

Mumbai: Officials said a cargo train derailed Tuesday night at Bhiwandi and Kharbav stations in Tana district of Maharashtra.

A van on the Mangalore-Daglu train derailed at 59/12 km at around 6.32 pm.

Swapnil Nila of Central Railway CPRO said the derailment occurred in the non-suburban section and that did not affect the operation of long-distance trains.

“There is no report of anyone being injured,” he said.

The Vasai-Diva part of the derailment is an important link between the Western Railway, the Central Railway and the Kangkan Railway.
